1959 Lincoln Continental by focallength 1959 Lincoln Continental by focallength
It's big, it's red and it weighs three tons!

This is a 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible I photographed at a car show a few years ago. Yes, it weighs in at around 6,000 lbs. It was one of the biggest cars produced in the late 1950's. The four door version is even longer.

It's beautifully restored. The sad thing is that it and I are about the same age and it's in much better shape than I am.

It also weighed nearly 6,000 lbs and had the maneuverability of a container ship.

I cropped the right side ever so slightly to get rid of someone in the background.

It's a great piece of software. BTW, it started out as a way to share files at ILM. Lucas sold it to Adobe in the '80's and they turned it into the software that we know and love. That's the reason that there are so many file formats in the "Save As" window.

Really nice shot. But then, the model can't be beat, either. So, I would be 1960 vintage, so I'm guessing we're around the same age as this beauty! I only wish I had aged as well! New paint, maybe?

I'm the same model year as the Lincoln. It's probably been restored. It's in way better shape than I am.

Thanks. It was at a local car show a few years ago. The funny thing is back then they came under some states' truck regulations, mainly due to their width.

nice shot of a beautiful car. Back when cars were made with sheet metal and chrome adorned all corners. Wonderful angle, helps show the length of the vehicle.

It wasn't easy. I had to try and not get any people in the shot. I almost succeeded. I did have to crop the right side a little bit. I remember a neighbor had a four door hardtop one of these when I was a kid. I'm not sure what year it was but I remember it was a dark color, maybe black and it was huge. Glad you like the picture.

I have a couple more shots of this car but I felt this captured the size and length of the car. It took a few minutes to get the right angle to get the shot I wanted. I also have a head on shot that fills the frame. I think I had to step back a few feet to get it all in the shot. I think a medium format camera would make getting a shot something like this a little easier.
